Metahuman YuA at the 2024 Hope Cup 2024-10-25

The 2024 Hope Cup was held in Korea for the first time in six years since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organized by the international relief and development NGO Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI), the Hope Cup is a global soccer tournament that empowers children to discover their potential and pursue their dreams through the challenge of the game.

Metahuman YuA has long served as an ambassador for KFHI, participating in eco-friendly charity bazaars and donating proceeds to good causes. This year, she joined musician Yoon Do-hyun of YB as a 2024 Hope Cup ambassador.

YuA, Appointed as Hope Cup Campaign Ambassador,

Visits National Team Training to Show Her Support

In September, YuA visited Dreamy School in Cheonan to cheer on the children training for the tournament. The “We Are One” team—comprised of children from multicultural families—was practicing with passion and dedication.

Upon her arrival, YuA greeted the players and introduced herself. Though the children came from different backgrounds, their shared love for soccer brought them together, and it was inspiring to see their unity and determination.

After a brief moment of shyness, YuA and the children quickly bonded through their introductions. They spent time playing soccer together, and when the match kicked off, the kids surprised her with their incredible energy and teamwork.

To lift their spirits after training, YuA handed out surprise snacks she had prepared. Watching the children smile and laugh over something as simple as ice cream, she said it felt like she had received encouragement from them instead.

The 2024 Hope Cup kicked off with notable guests including football commentator Park Moon-sung as honorary chairperson, and comedian Kim Min-kyung and actor Jung Tae-woo as co-hosts of the opening ceremony. On October 10, the long-awaited qualifiers filled with children’s dreams and hope were held at the Seoul Sangam World Cup Auxiliary Stadium. Naturally, YuA was there to cheer them on as the Hope Cup ambassador.

- YuA warmly greeted S’Daeri, who visited the event, and gave enthusiastic support to the young athletes with energetic claps and cheers.

After the match, the children she had met during training recognized her and greeted her with big smiles. YuA came prepared again—this time with another surprise. Following her previous visit, she had hosted a “Support Comment Collection Event” on social media, turning user comments into handwritten-style letters delivered to the children. Along with the letter, she brought mini cookies, remembering how happy the kids were with snacks last time.

Reading the heartfelt letters, the children smiled brightly—matching the beautiful weather. Seeing their joy, YuA said she felt deeply touched and proud.

That wraps up our recap of YuA’s activities as the 2024 Hope Cup ambassador! Among past participants of the Hope Cup, two children went on to achieve their dreams of becoming national soccer players. KFHI continues its mission of supporting the hopes and dreams of children around the world—and YuA, as a metahuman ambassador, is right there with them, spreading kindness globally. Let’s keep cheering them on!
